CRIPPLE CREEK/BACK COUNTRY JEEP TOUR DETAILS

What to expect of the tour?

We drive through the eclectic mountain town of Manitou Springs and drive up the Ute Pass on the north face of Pikes Peak. We'll soak

in views of the mountain.

It's about an hours drive to the historic mining and gaming town of Cripple Creek, but the views are unforgettable. The Sawatch Mountain

Range grace the views on the horizon. Once over Tenderfoot Pass, we descend into historic Cripple Creek where the Sangre de Cristo

Mountains will come into view.

Once we leave Cripple Creek, we drive down Shelf Road. This is a dirt road that traverses canyons and valleys and this is a part of Colorado

back country you can only experience this way!  Spectacular scenery is an understatement. When we reach the end of Shelf Road, we will

turn around and come back and stop at the Cripple Creek Heritage Center for a break.

Scenic, historic, and fun!

Will we see wildlife?

It is possible to see some wildlife. Bears, elk, deer, bobcats, big horn sheep, chipmunks, porcupines, and even mountain lions, but it is rare.  You never know, Sasquatch might be lurking about!

Summer is filled with beautiful wild flowers of rich color, and the fall is dominated by the spectacular Aspen trees.

Is it safe?

Yes, it is.  Your safety is our first priority.  Our guides know these mountains and have driven in all weather conditions.  They know when it is

not safe to go or when to be leaving.  Our Jeeps are outfitted with the tires for the worst of conditions.  Our guides also "mother hen" our

guests all along the way.  The high altitude affects people differently and they watch them closely to

see if they are having issues.

The Jeeps have oxygen bottles and water if anyone is struggling.

Why Mountain Jeep LLC?

Not only is your safety our first priority, we care deeply about Colorado and giving you an experience you won't forget.  You will learn much history

and legend of the area, as well as insights into our favorite places to eat and things to do.  We take you on this journey so you can relax, knowing

you are in good hands, and enjoy the views and conversation.

We engage with our guests on a personal level.  This is a much more engaging adventure than other outfitters. This isn't just a

tour, it's an experience, and one we look forward to sharing with you.

You might come away with new friends.

Is it for locals as well?

Absolutely!  Whether you've never been up, or a little leary of driving it yourself, or you have been but never had a guided tour, this is still for you.

You can relax and see the views, gain new knowledge of the area and mountains, stop at places you might not have known was there, and maybe

get some insights on some local places of interest you might not have been aware of.

Let us take you!

What about the weather?

Mountains make their own weather, and they don't much care about weather forecasters.  Weather could affect parts or all of this tour.

Bad weather days aren't necessarily bad, either.  Some of our most memorable experiences has been in the mountains when the weather is

doing interesting things.  Watching lighting happen below you, a thunderstorm off in the distance, or a freak snow storm out of

nowhere.  Sometimes this is just exciting to see.

We'll be in touch on weather days when it might affect your tour, and decide what we want to do.
